Growing up in a Catholic Fundamentalist Baptist household I soon gave up identifying with religious explanations for insights and observations and instead attributed it to my supernatural powers. As a little girl it was helpful to feel like you were in control of your environment.
In Conversations in My Sleep I have tried to combine waking stories of family, friends and my night dreams and translate them into the artwork. The pieces on display are based on experiences from the last two years of transition between a full time administrative job and starting my own art business. It is also a time that included the loss of a parent, caretaking a stepparent, and health concerns. All of which finds clarity when I dream.
