Beginning in July 1996 I began an art-making ritual that will continue until July 1, 2006. Every morning when I first get up I make one journalistic self-portrait. I use self-hardening clay and objects that I pick up throughout the day.  The days date is scratched into the back of every piece and when I finish there will be 3,650 works in the collection.

My early morning ritual remains a rewarding part of every day's routine.  It conjures up impressions and feelings that are not always literal or formed as complete thoughts, but are intuitive. Each figure has a special meaning to me, and the materials I add to the clay are considered and chosen to enhance those characteristics I feel are within the figure. One is made for each day, when the spirit moves me I make extras that have been used for exhibitions and are also for sale.

Materials:  Clay with a multitude of manufactured and found objects added.
