I am a member of the
Berkeley Street Community Garden. It is nestled between new developments
and what's left of old established South End brownstones. 148 garden
plots comprise this wonderful ethnic mix of kids, grandparents, and
artists. Being a part of this community and working in my garden
has renewed my sense of community, fed my spirit and (with luck)
food.
The drawings are from a series inspired by these experiences. They
are made by incorporating multi-layers of line drawings on Japanese
papers mixed
with beeswax, cheesecloth, ink and carbon paper.
